We, Clam Kerala, proudly stand as Kerala’s first Farmer Producer Company (FPC) dedicated to the black clam industry. Initially founded in Panavally Panchayat, Alappuzha, we are now proud to represent 300 clam fishers from the districts of Alappuzha, Kollam, Kottayam, and Ernakulam as our initial shareholders. Our mission is to empower local clam farmers through sustainable harvesting and innovative value-addition practices.

About Us

Supported financially by NABARD, we strive to drive rural development and uplift the livelihoods of our farming communities. Designed by Agronature, Our project maximizes value chain efficiency and export potential, elevating the Kerala clam industry to new heights. With technical guidance from the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), we are equipped to implement advanced clam processing methods that adhere to international standards.

As our Producer Organization Promoting Institution (POPI), Gramajyothi FPO has been instrumental in mobilizing and organizing the local farming community, helping us create a cohesive and resilient network of clam farmers.

There are 32 fishing villages around Vembanad Lake, where approximately 6,500 people are involved in the black clam fishery. For many, clam collection serves as a supplementary source of income alongside fishing. We are proud to represent 300 clam fishers from the districts of Alappuzha, Kollam, Kottayam, and Ernakulam as our initial shareholders.

Many of our members come from marginalized communities, including SC/ST, OEC, and BPL households, underscoring our commitment to social inclusion and equitable growth.Together, we are committed to fostering a sustainable and prosperous future for Kerala’s black clam industry.
